What is ECAP? (Education and Career Action Plan)

ECAP stands for Education and Career Action Plan. It’s a personalized roadmap that all Arizona high school students are required to update annually from Grade 9 through Grade 12. The goal of ECAP is to help students understand who they are, what careers they’re interested in, and what steps they need to take to reach their goals—both in school and beyond.

What’s Included in an ECAP?

Each student’s ECAP covers four key areas:

Area	What It Covers
Academic Goals	Courses taken, grades earned, and graduation progress
Career Goals	Interests, skills, RIASEC results, and career exploration
Postsecondary Plans	College, trade school, military, or direct-to-work options
Extracurricular Activities	Sports, clubs, community service, work, or leadership roles

Why It Matters

ECAP is a graduation requirement in Arizona.
It helps students make informed decisions about their future.
ECAP encourages goal-setting, career discovery, and self-awareness.
