What is a Badge and How Do I Assign One?

Badges are digital tokens awarded to students for completing specific tasks or content on Edge Factor. They encourage engagement, celebrate progress, and help students document their learning journey.

What Are Badges?

Badges can be earned by:

  • Watching videos completely

  • Answering quiz questions

  • Completing interactive activities

There are several types of badges:

  • Learn & Earn Badges: Monthly badge challenges featuring a specific career. Completing the challenge enters students into a draw to win free gear.

  • Industry Badges: Earned by exploring careers and content within one of the 13 industries featured on Edge Factor.

  • Series-Based Badges: Specific series award badges for completion and comprehension.

  • Completion Badges: Automatically awarded for fully watching certain media or completing designated paths.

  • Journey Stop Badges: Awarded to students as they complete stops on their Student Level Career Journey (grade 6-12).

How to Assign a Badge

To assign a badge to your class:

  1. Navigate to the Library or a content area where badges are displayed.

  2. Hover over the badge you want to assign.

  3. Click the “+” button that appears.

  4. Select the class you want to assign the badge to.

  5. Click “Assign” to confirm.

You’ll receive a confirmation message once the badge has been successfully assigned.

Note: Badges appear in a separate section in the classroom view, outside of assignments.
