Understanding Completions vs. In Progress
Learn how to tell whether you have finished watching content or if you’re still working on it. This article explains what “Completed” and “In Progress” mean on the Edge Factor platform, how they appear visually, and what’s required for content to be marked as complete.
What Does “In Progress” Mean?
When you see the “In Progress” banner, it means that the student (or you, if you're the learner) has:
-
Opened the content
-
Started watching or interacting with it
-
But has not yet reached the required completion threshold
Content stays “In Progress” if:
-
The video hasn’t been watched to at least 80%
-
The quiz hasn’t been submitted
-
The activity hasn’t been marked as complete
Visual cue:
-
A yellow “In Progress” banner appears around the content thumbnail
-
This helps both students and teachers know that the content is still being worked on
What Does “Completed” Mean?
Once content has been successfully finished, it will show a “Completed” banner.
To be considered “Completed”:
-
Videos must be watched to at least 80%
-
Quizzes must be submitted
-
Activities must be completed and/or teacher-marked (if applicable)
Visual cue:
-
A green “Completed” banner wraps around the content thumbnail
-
Badges tied to that content may also be unlocked (for learners)
Where You’ll See These Labels
-
Students: On your My Journey page, or inside your assigned class, you'll see these status banners on each content piece.
-
Educators: In the Workspace, open your class > click on the “Students & Grades” tab to view each student's content status (Completed, In Progress, or Not Started).
- Educators: In the Library you will see this on content you have personally watched.
Quick Tip for Educators
If an item requires your review (like an open-ended quiz question), it will appear with a “Grading Required” notice. After you’ve reviewed and marked it, the student’s status will update accordingly.
