Microsoft SSO Setup Guide

Edge Factor supports Single Sign-On (SSO) through Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Entra ID

A Microsoft Entra Administrator can approve the Edge Factor SSO application and determine which users or security groups can access it.

Once SSO is configured, users can sign in to Edge Factor using their existing school Microsoft account.

Before You Begin

Microsoft SSO setup must be completed by a Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Entra Administrator with permission to approve enterprise applications and grant administrator consent.

Before beginning, determine whether Edge Factor should be available to:

  • All users in the organization
  • Selected users
  • Selected security groups

Approve Edge Factor in Microsoft Entra

Step 1: Sign In as an Administrator

⚠️ Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center using an administrator account with the required permissions.

Step 2: Locate the Edge Factor Application
  • Open your organization's Enterprise Applications & locate the EdgeFactor SSO application

  • Select the EdgeFactor application to view its configuration and permissions

Step 3: Grant Administrator Approval
  • Review the requested permissions

  • Provide the required administrator consent for the organization

☑️ Once approval has been granted, users who are permitted to access the application can authenticate using their Microsoft school account.

Test Microsoft SSO

Before deploying SSO across your organization, we recommend testing with at least:

  • One educator/staff account
  • One student account

To test:

  1. Go to app.edgefactor.com
  2. Select Sign in with Microsoft
  3. Sign in using the school-managed Microsoft account.
  4. Confirm that the user can access Edge Factor.
  5. Verify that the user is connected to the correct organization and has the expected access.

Testing both account types helps confirm that authentication and user mapping are working correctly.

Network & Web Filtering

Users access the Edge Factor application through: app.edgefactor.com

The Edge Factor authentication services include:

  • idusa.edgefactor.com
  • idca.edgefactor.com

Ensure these domains are permitted by your organization's firewall, network security, and web-filtering policies.

Important: k12.edgefactor.com is the Edge Factor K–12 marketing website. It is separate from the Edge Factor application and authentication services.

Troubleshooting

"Admin Approval Required"

If Microsoft displays an Admin Approval Required message:

  1. Contact your Microsoft Entra Administrator.
  2. Confirm that the Edge Factor application has been approved for your organization.
  3. Confirm that the user or their security group has been assigned to the application if Assignment required is enabled.
The User Cannot Sign In

Confirm that:

  • The user is signing in with their school-managed Microsoft account.
  • The user has been granted access to the Edge Factor application.
  • Their account or security group has been assigned to the application if required.
  • Administrator consent has been granted.

If the user is still experiencing issues, please contact support@edgefactor.com so our Edge Factor team can review the account.

📝 If possible, please include the user’s first and last name and school email address to help us resolve the issue quickly.
