Google SSO Setup Guide

Edge Factor supports Single Sign-On (SSO) through Google Workspace

A Google Workspace Administrator can approve Edge Factor as a trusted application and determine which users or organizational units can access it.

Once SSO is configured, users can sign in to Edge Factor without creating or remembering a separate Edge Factor password.

⚠️ A Google Workspace Super Admin or IT Administrator must complete this setup.

Before You Begin

Google SSO setup must be completed by a Google Workspace Super Admin or IT Administrator with permission to manage third-party application access.

You will need:

  • Access to the Google Admin Console

  • Permission to manage third-party application access
  • The Edge Factor Google Client ID
Edge Factor Client ID:

   224666750290-6o9vpf493knege3kihiq239893urqgfd.apps.googleusercontent.com

Configure Edge Factor in Google Admin

Step 1: Sign in to Google Admin Console
  • Sign in to your organization's Google Admin Console using an administrator account

Step 2: Open Third-Party App Access

Navigate to:

Security → Access and data control → API controls → Manage Third-Party App Access

  • Select Configure new app.

  • Choose the Web app option.

  • Search for Edge Factor using the Client ID:

Step 4: Select Who Can Access Edge Factor
Choose the appropriate organizational units (OUs) or users who should have access.
  • You may provide access to:

    • All users

    • Selected organizational units

      • Specific groups or users, depending on your Google Workspace configuration

Step 5: Set Edge Factor as Trusted
  • Set the application's access level to: Trusted

  • Save your configuration

⚠️ Google Workspace may take some time to apply the updated settings across your organization.

Test Google SSO

Before making Edge Factor available to your entire organization, we recommend testing with at least:

  • One educator/staff account

  • One student account

To test:

  1. Go to app.edgefactor.com
  2. Select Sign in with Google
  3. Sign in using the school-managed Google account.
  4. Confirm that the user can access Edge Factor.
  5. Verify that the user is connected to the correct organization and has the expected access.

Testing both an educator and student account helps confirm that your organization's account structure is being mapped correctly.

Network & Web Filtering

Users access the Edge Factor application through: app.edgefactor.com

The Edge Factor authentication services include:

  • idusa.edgefactor.com
  • idca.edgefactor.com

Ensure these domains are permitted by your organization's firewall, network security, and web-filtering policies.

Important: k12.edgefactor.com is the Edge Factor K–12 marketing website. It is separate from the Edge Factor application and authentication services.

Troubleshooting

"This App Is Blocked"

If Google displays a message indicating that Edge Factor is blocked:

  1. Confirm that the correct Edge Factor Client ID was used.
  2. Confirm that Edge Factor (Web) was selected.
  3. Verify that Edge Factor is configured as Trusted.
  4. Confirm that the user's organizational unit or account has access.
The User Cannot Sign In

Confirm that:

  • The user is signing in with their school-managed Google account.
  • Their Google account is included in the organizational unit or access group configured for Edge Factor.
  • Edge Factor is configured as a trusted application.

If the user is still experiencing issues, please contact support@edgefactor.com so our Edge Factor team can review the account.

📝 If possible, please include the user’s first and last name and school email address to help us resolve the issue quickly.
