How to Set Up Google SSO (Single Sign-On)

Learn how Google Workspace Administrators can approve Edge Factor as a trusted app in the Google Admin Console. This allows educators and students to securely log in using their school Google accounts.

Edge Factor supports Google Single Sign-On (SSO), allowing educators and students to log in using their school Google credentials.

To activate Google SSO, your district’s Google Workspace Admin must approve and configure the integration in the Google Admin Console.

⚠️ This setup must be completed by a Google Workspace Super Admin or IT Administrator.

Google SSO Setup Steps

Step 1: Log Into Google Admin Console

  1. Go to: https://admin.google.com

  2. Sign in with your Super Admin credentials

Step 2: Configure the App

  1. Navigate to:
    Security → Access and data control → API controls

  2. Click Manage Third-Party App Access

  3. Click Configure new app

You will now see the “Configure new app” screen as shown below.

Step 3: Search for Edge Factor

  1. Select the Web tab (if not already selected).

  2. In the search field, paste the Edge Factor Client ID.

  3. Click Search.

  4. You should see:

    Edge Factor (Web)
    With the matching Client ID.

  5. Click the app to select it.

  6. Click Continue.

Step 4: Set the Scope

On the Scope screen (as shown below), choose who the app applies to:

You will see:

  • 🔘 All in yourdomain.com (all users)

  • ⚪ Select org units

Recommended Setting:

Choose:

All in yourdomain.com (all users)

This allows all educators and students in your Google domain to use Google SSO.

Click Continue.

Step 5: Set Access Level

You will now be prompted to configure access.

Choose:

Trusted

This allows Edge Factor to access required OAuth scopes for login.

Click Configure to save.

Step 6: Test Login

  1. Go to: https://app.edgefactor.com

  2. Click Login with Google

  3. Sign in with a school-managed Google account

  4. Confirm automatic login works without errors

Troubleshooting

“This app is blocked”

  • Confirm the app is marked as Trusted

  • Ensure the correct Client ID was entered

  • Confirm it is set for All users (or the correct OU)
