How to Set Up a Single-Sign on with Classlink

Learn how to integrate Edge Factor with your school’s ClassLink SSO system.

This guide walks IT administrators through adding Edge Factor to ClassLink, setting up secure login, and optionally enabling rostering for auto-syncing students and teachers.

Before You Begin

  • You must be a district or school-level IT administrator.

  • Your school or district must have an active Premium Edge Factor membership.

  • You need access to ClassLink LaunchPad and Roster Server.

  • Edge Factor must be added in your ClassLink App Library.

Step 1: Add Edge Factor to ClassLink LaunchPad

  1. Log into the ClassLink Admin Portal.

  2. Go to the App Library.

  3. Search for “Edge Factor.”

  4. Click Add and include it in your district’s LaunchPad.

  5. Assign the app to schools, roles, or user groups (e.g., students, teachers, admins).

Step 2: Set Up SSO Integration

  1. In ClassLink Admin, go to SSO Configuration or Applications.

  2. Locate Edge Factor from your added apps.

  3. Choose your authentication type (most schools use OAuth2, but SAML is also supported).

  4. Enter the following values:

    • Redirect/Callback URL: https://app.edgefactor.com/login/callback

    • Client ID & Secret: Provided by Edge Factor (request from your Edge Factor rep or support@edgefactor.com).

Step 3: Sync Rostering (Optional but Recommended)

If your district wants to auto-roster educators and students:

  1. In ClassLink Roster Server, share the following data with Edge Factor:

    • Organization name

    • Instructor name & email

    • Student name & email

    • Classes (if available)

  2. Under Sharing Rules, grant Edge Factor access and select the data scopes (district or school level).

  3. Run a manual sync or wait for the nightly auto-sync.

Note: Rostering is not required for login. You can also bulk upload educators and students using CSV.

Step 4: Test the Integration

  1. Open your school/district’s ClassLink LaunchPad.

  2. Click the Edge Factor app.

  3. If set up correctly, users will log directly into their Edge Factor accounts without needing credentials.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If users are redirected to the login page:

    • Confirm SSO credentials and callback URL are correct.

    • Make sure the app is assigned to their group.

  • If accounts aren’t appearing after rostering:

    • Verify sharing permissions in ClassLink Roster Server.

    • Ensure synced email addresses match valid formats.
